SimScale’s Growth Journey —from a Talent Acquisition Perspective

SimScale’s Growth Journey —from a Talent Acquisition Perspective

Just last week, I had a conversation with one of our new starters and realized that in the almost 2.5 years that I have been part of SimScale, we have grown from around 80 to almost 130 employees. I know to some hyper-growing startups, this may probably seem like a very small number. But to me personally, as a Talent Acquisition Manager at SimScale, it means a lot. Behind every 'number' is a story, a talent, someone so excited to join this journey and a lot of recruiting effort, from the team and myself.?

Starting My SimSale Journey in 2020?

Let me tell you something, recruiting at SimScale is not your typical recruiter job! When I joined the team in 2020, I had no idea about simulation in the cloud and how exciting and challenging the work could be! I’m proud to work with such talented people, seeing how their abilities contribute towards the success of SimScale. From the 'behind the scenes' action in the Engineering team, to 'let’s get this to the customer' in Sales and Application Engineering. Meanwhile, our Customer Success and Marketing teams are working to? ensure that we target the right audience and get them excited about our platform, and help them start and stay succesful with our solution. On top of the job-specific expertise we may be looking for, we look for personalities who are ready to be in a fast-paced environment and don’t mind thinking outside the box. This is what I love about SimScale. You really get to be creative, challenge the status quo and drive change, if you’re up for it! I’m not going to lie, it took me a little bit to even grasp the complexity of how our teams work together when I first started. And,? even to this day, there are many things that I still get to learn. Together with the team, I have recruited new SimScalers into all of our different departments. It has been a rollercoaster for sure: from slowing down recruitment when the pandemic first started to 'we got 25 million in funding, let’s recruit for 26 different roles', mostly in Engineering, at a time when there was? only one Recruiter in the whole organization. It was definitely an 'all hands on deck' situation, as even our CEO David jumped onboard and proactively reached out to candidates on LinkedIn. Yet it has been the most rewarding experience, being able to welcome so many new faces to SimScale and seeing those who have been part of the team for many years get so excited about our mission!?

Fast forward: Almost 130 employees in 2022

Looking back at the past 2.5 years, we have not only seen growth across product- and sales-related teams, but also in the People Team. Growing at such a speed means that you have to adapt a lot of processes, or even come up with new processes all together. Recruiting talent is an exciting job and can be really fulfilling. For me personally, I love getting new team members from all across the world recruited. I enjoy their excitement about SimScale and ultimately seeing them grow and taking over more responsibilities, or even switching to a completely new team and taking on a new challenge. The simulation world is small, which makes it challenging yet equally rewarding to connect with talent and convince them that SimScale is the company they should join!?

Together with my colleagues Sabrina and Natalie, we ensure that we find the right talent, engage with them, and with the rest of the People Team make sure they are happy at SimScale—because the journey isn’t over after recruitment! Making sure that our new team members have a smooth onboarding process and feel productive, successful and happy overall is important to us. Working at SimScale, you not only join a company with an innovative product, but also a great company culture. Working in a fast-paced environment can certainly be stressful, but over the past 2.5 years I have learned so much about what team work really means and I can’t wait to see what this great team will accomplish moving forward!?

Did this make you curious to learn more about SimScale, our culture, and all opportunities in our team? Then reach out to us and tell us your story!?

I really enjoyed this read Lisa! As a relatively "new" SimScaler it's so awesome to step back and really see how much the company has grown, how processes have evolved and all the hard work you've put in! Internal recruitment is such a rewarding job, especially when you're placing amazing talent in their dream jobs. Can't beat it! ??
