Facebook Ads Introduces New Location Targeting Feature

On September 16th, Meta introduced a new feature to Facebook Ads. Now, when selecting? a specific location to reach your audience, advertisers may now see the new option to reach 'more people likely to respond to your ads'. This means that when adding specific locations, such as regions or cities, Meta may now also target people who are interested in making purchases or travelling to these locations.

It identifies these users by:

  1. Recent visits / residency in the region or city
  2. Searching for terms and Marketplace listings related to the location
  3. Interactions with Pages or Ads associated with the area
  4. Having friends who live in the targeted location
  5. Residing in nearby towns or cities

What does this mean for my brand?

  • Broader Audience: As this new option in Facebook Ads allows advertisers to reach users who are interested in specific locations, it has the ability to double your audience size.

  • Niche Ad Targeting: Brands can now plan to reach potential visitors planning trips to the targeted locations, attract customers who plan to shop or dine in the region or city, and connect with those interested in professional services in the area.

  • Lower Cost for Your Brand: Meta states that businesses using this feature have seen a 6.7% lower cost per result, which shows improved ad performance.
