Instagram Prioritising Creativity and Connection in 2025

Adam Mosseri has just announced Instagram’s top areas of focus for 2025. Mosseri mentioned that creativity and connection will be key priorities this year, and plans to expand tools for creativity on the platform, so that they are “best in class.” He also discussed that incorporating AI would heighten creative freedom.

According to Mosseri, Instagram is “trying to reward creative content more by focusing ranking on things like originality.”

What does this mean for my brand?

  • More Opportunities for Creators: Creators will have the opportunity to earn more money on the platform, with plans for algorithms to favour original content.
  • Leveling the Playing Field: Instagram’s algorithm will continue to favour emerging creators’ content in 2025.
  • Adjust Your Strategy: More interactive and social content will be seen on the platform, meaning your brand may need to change up your content and community interaction to ensure to maintain a wide reach and brand loyalty.

TikTok’s Updated Video Editor App

TikTok has launched a new version of its Video Editor platform. This is now included in TikTok’s Symphony creative tool set. The updated video editor will include new creative features, like digital avatars to add to your own clips, narration with auto-captions, one-click translations with voiceovers, along with AI-generated soundtracks. The Video Editor now has a selection of templates for users to choose from, which are based on trending TikTok formats.

What does this mean for my brand?

  • An Easier Editing Process: Increased editing options and functions included in one management dashboard.
  • A Simplified Creative Process: Simplify your creative process with new features and boost efficiency.
  • Minimise Hiring Talent: With AI avatars, hiring talent as the face of your videos may no longer be necessary. These AI avatars come with 14 different languages, so if you’re looking to target new places, this is a bonus! Although, let's not forget about influencer collabs just yet!

Pay to Play: Instagram’s New Engagement Plans Explained

Instagram is exploring the idea of paid engagement, asking users if they’d be willing to pay for things like more followers, likes, and comments. The survey teased options like 600 new followers and 2,000 messages for $150, hinting this could tie into the Meta Verified programme. If rolled out, this could be a game-changer for creators and brands looking to boost visibility.

What does this mean for my brand?

  • Bigger Reach: Paid engagement could make it easier to get in front of a larger audience quickly.
  • Stay Ahead: Using these tools could give you a leg up on competitors relying only on organic growth.
  • Budget Check: You’ll need to weigh the cost of paid options against the return on investment.
  • Staying Authentic: Too much paid engagement might look inauthentic, so maintaining trust is key.

Meta's Community Notes: A New Era of User-Driven Content Moderation

Meta is rolling out 'Community Notes' on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, shifting from third-party fact-checking to a community-driven approach. This feature allows users to add context to potentially misleading posts, aiming to enhance information accuracy through diverse perspectives. The initiative mirrors a similar system on X (formerly Twitter) and reflects Meta's commitment to promoting free expression while addressing misinformation.

What does this mean for my brand?

  • Active Participation: Engaging with Community Notes can position your brand as a credible source, fostering trust among your audience.
  • Content Monitoring: Stay vigilant about notes added to your posts to manage brand perception and address potential misinformation promptly.
  • Audience Engagement: Encouraging your community to contribute to notes can enhance engagement and promote informed discussions around your brand.
