Simply measuring the Health impact of your business

Seeing lots of clients increasing investment in Wellbeing programmes to address both physical and mental health of their employees right now. This is a good thing. But how is the impact of these programmes protected by a strong and robust business case to invest more in people in the future?

Benchmarking ourselves brings mediocrity

There are lots of benchmarking frameworks being developed on measuring the net positive “Health’ impact of a business. The ‘H’ is developing in an evolving ESHG. Some good work by Business for Health looking at company disclosure to give investors confidence that employee and customer wellbeing is being measured and managed.?

Is it much simpler than this? The danger is that we all get hung up on benchmarking ourselves against ourselves and you simply get a mediocre performance from all.

Public Health Data is the Benchmark

It’s quite easy to get public health data for places such as counties or cities from which a company is drawing its employees.?

Step 1 - Is a companies wellbeing impact simply making sure that its employees physical and mental wellbeing is better than that of the population outside its doors??

Fundamentally as an employer its is for you to prove that your employees health its better?than that of the population outside your doors.

Step 2 - And then proving that its products and services have a net positive impact on peoples health (health benefits outweigh health downsides)…..

Step 3 - This is all within the context of achieving an ESG labelling panacea for products and services where the Net positive Economic, Societal, Health and Environmental impacts of products and services are available for the consumer at point of sale to make a considered choice…..

....but lets get Health right first!
