We've never experienced such a multi-faceted, global turndown - not to mention the waves of layoffs and without diving into all the new employee social / psychological issues due to so many changes over the last year or two, which economists are not used to dealing with.
But a crisis that's impacting so many regions at once? It's the first time in history we're witnessing a crisis like this.
Anyone who says we've gotten out of similar situations in the past, doesn't know what they're talking about. Here's an example -
