Simplifying Systems with ADHD

In the realm of neurodiversity, the power of simplicity cannot be overstated. Today, let's explore the art of simplifying systems, workflows, and routines for individuals navigating the world with ADHD or any Invisible Disability.
ADHD often brings a unique cognitive landscape, which can make complex systems feel overwhelming. The key to success lies in embracing simplicity without sacrificing efficiency. Begin by decluttering your physical and digital spaces. A clutter-free environment promotes clarity and reduces cognitive load. It's a simple yet profound step toward focus. One of my favorite ways to help "declutter" is by creating what I call "Doom Bins". They serve a very specific purpose: organize the clutter for the NOW, and deal with it LATER at a very specific and designated time. If that does not work for your brain, try practicing my O.H.I.O. method: Only Handle It Once. If you pick something up, do not put it down until it is in its designated spot!
When creating systems, start with a clear purpose. Whether it's your work processes or daily routines, align each component with your goals. Simplicity emerges from intention. I love "habit-stacking" my morning routine because it helps me to build momentum to start my work day. I accomplish my personal goals while also feeling as if I've already "checked off" many mini-tasks that help me fuel my fire so that when I sit at my desk to work, I am ready to go!
Other tools I love to help you kick-start simplifying your systems are:
? Time Blocking
? Minimize Multitasking
? Mindfulness Breaks.
