Simplifying Leadership Acts
Over the course of last couple of months, I tried to de-mystified leadership acts though my various posts. This comes from my intense believe that leadership is not act of genetics, rather leadership is a journey or a process that once followed can be acquired by anyone - so, in other words, anyone can be a leader!
So, here are 5 simple acts, once practiced and mastered, can make someone to be a great leader:
- Mastering the art of story teller: Leadership act starts with a story - a story about his vision, mission and an inspiring future! A leader can only captivate his audience and followers when he can articulate his own dream in a way that others can visualize that dream as their reality. It is the great act of storytelling, it is not about making fancy presentation or making complex charts or explaining big numbers!
- Think big: A leader is the one who sees what others can't see - this is where he or she becomes a visionary - crafting a future that is big, bold and beautiful!
- Brave enough to face the crisis: A leader needs to demonstrate that where there is a crisis, he is the one who will be standing there to defend others from it not run away from it. Many leaders are born in middle of a crisis not out of prosperity.
- Creating future leaders: One of the greatest acts of a leader is people! Leaders are not there only to lead but also to build future leaders.
- Be Genuine: Last but not the least, is authenticity! It sounds easy but it is probably the hardest one to acquire! There is no denying that people can, sooner or later, 'see you through'! Leadership rises from honesty and sincerity, not through falsehood and un-founded promises. A leader needs to be genuine in his/her ideology and belief! Sometimes that will mean making hard decisions that may leave a few angry but will keep the purpose steady.
Of course, this is not the exhaustive list, but these five together can certainly unleash the enough horsepower in concocting great leaderships.
