Shrehith Karkera , along with his friends and fellow alumni from the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) in Ahmedabad, Bhanu Harish Gurram and Pawan Kumar Rai , made a bold decision. Instead of pursuing conventional corporate careers through campus placements, they opted for entrepreneurship, united by a shared purpose - to make finance understandable and within reach for everyone.

Their journey began with a fundamental question: "How can the average person fathom complex financial concepts like the stock market or insurance?" This query became the cornerstone for two innovative startups - Finshots and Ditto Insurance . Although these ventures operate in distinct sectors, they share a common goal: to make finance more approachable for all.

Their venture into the world of finance began in 2018 when they aimed to simplify intricate financial topics through content creation. The birth of Finception (or the popular 3-minute newsletter, Finshots) sought to assist individuals interested in the stock market but struggling to grasp its complexities.

A turning point arrived in their journey in 2019 when Zerodha Fund House , a prominent financial firm, took notice of their work. Impressed by the quality of their content, Zerodha invested around Rs 4 crore to support their growth - a pivotal moment in their entrepreneurial pursuit.

Their content platform, Finshots, expanded to encompass daily financial news, breaking down the workings of companies, business transactions, and global financial developments. Remarkably, they amassed over 500,000 subscribers without extensive marketing efforts and grew their content library to include over 400 articles.

However, they realized that content was just the beginning. Their ambitions extended beyond content creation. This realization led to the birth of Ditto Insurance in February 2021, aimed at simplifying the complexities of insurance for the average person.

Ditto Insurance stands out in the crowded insurance market by focusing on providing premium advisory services. Their approach is customer-centric, guiding individuals through the entire insurance process. They prioritize understanding the unique needs and priorities of each customer and recommend 2-3 policies tailored to their requirements. Their goal is to ensure that customers fully comprehend what they are purchasing, including the technicalities outlined in insurance policies. If a customer chooses to buy insurance through Ditto, they receive a commission. Notably, 70% of customers who have purchased insurance through Ditto were introduced via Finshots.

One of Ditto's key distinctions is its team of experienced advisors, as opposed to the often-scripted interactions with traditional insurance agents. These advisors are equipped to address customer queries beyond scripted responses, enhancing the customer experience.

Unlike companies primarily driven by commissions and cross-selling products, Ditto remains committed to its core philosophy of prioritizing the customer's best interests. They are dedicated to providing customers with quality recommendations rather than simply chasing profits.

Ditto Insurance has experienced rapid growth, increasing its team from 10 to 70 employees within 11 months. While their primary focus currently revolves around insurance, they envision expanding their "content community commerce model" to other financial products, with a strong emphasis on financial education and customer-centric support.

As they continue to evolve, their mission is to transform how people perceive finance and insurance, making these often complex subjects simpler and more accessible for everyone. Through their journey, they aim to empower individuals to navigate their financial futures with confidence.
