The Simplicity of True Greatness

We live in a society and every action, word or thought has a consequence on our lives and on other people's life. You need not money or power to make an impact, you need a heart. Below are some of the simple acts that resulted in far-reaching positive effects in the course of humanity:

  1. Edward Omwanza Kebaso - he ever insisted on faith, prayer, accountability, and courage to face insurmountable challenges.
  2. Margaret Kwamboka Kebaso - championing love, sympathy, and hospitality to even strangers. Her clear lifeline being; 'smile and be friendly'.
  3. Ellen Gould White - gave herself to God at a very young age and God used her powerfully to write over 100,000 inspired pages that have had an impact on millions of people.
  4. John Nevins Andrews - Commonly referred to as "the ablest man in all our ranks". His example set in motion a tide of other missionaries, his?History of the Sabbath?persuaded thousands, and his journal (The Signs of the Times) gave birth to congregations on three continents.
  5. Elder James Springer White - His faith, resourcefulness, and energy, his arduous labor, and fidelity to the revealed will of God activated the youth of his day and left a rich legacy of enduring leadership to succeeding generations.
  6. Josephat Bates - Yankee sea captain, radical health reformer, and revivalist minister, a champion of strict separation of church and state who objected to the way that sailors were often forced to attend religious services.
  7. John Harvey Kellogg - revolutionized the American diet by inventing flaked breakfast cereals first known as Wheat Flakes and Corn Flakes. An avid health reformer, skilled surgeon, and physician, Kellogg's extensive writing and lecturing contributed to a new emphasis on the importance of a healthy diet, adequate exercise, and natural remedies near the end of the nineteenth century.
  8. William Miller -a gentleman farmer tormented by the question of why he survived the battle of Plattsburg. Searching for answers, he ignores the misgivings and jeers of friends to search the Scriptures where he finds a friend in Jesus.
  9. Prof. Martin Luther, O.S.A -?Compassionate and acerbic by turns he single-handedly set in motion what we know today as the Reformation. No other person has had as a greater impact on the spiritual progress of the church like Martin Luther.
  10. Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr - never backed down in his stand against racism. He dedicated his life to?the civil rights movement.
  11. Abraham Lincoln - the leader who successfully prosecuted the Civil War to preserve the nation. He played a key?role?in the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment, which ended slavery in America.
  12. Thomas?Joseph Odhiambo?Mboya - he was a man ahead of his time! He helped set up the African-American Students Foundation which raised money to subsidize the cost of flights for East African students studying in America, the program through which Obama Senior (father to Barrack Hussein Obama the 44th president of USA) was a beneficiary.?
  13. Benjamin Carson Sonya - through his passion, commitment & trusting God he gave hope and life again to the conjoined twins.
  14. Barrack Hussein Obama - ignited hope in all Americans notwithstanding color, race, religion, or economic status.
  15. Briggette Hyacinth - brings hope and value to the vast millions of jobless intellectuals.
  16. Albert Einstein - turned his ideas into great advances in science.
  17. Henry Ford - He was instrumental in giving higher wages to employees, he changed the way manufacturing plants operated. He was even able to change the economy of a city (Detroit). Lastly, but certainly not least, he changed the way people travel to this day.
  18. William Colgate - He invented the small soap and candle business in New York City early in the 19th century which is now, more than 200 years, a truly global company serving hundreds of millions of consumers worldwide. Throughout this history, Colgate people and Colgate values have been at the heart of its success. Key in the values was tithing; he gave two-tenths, then three-tenths, and finally five-tenths of all his income to the work of od in the world.?
  19. Georgia O'Keeffe - he painted big pictures of small things in the desert to get us to notice.
  20. Robert Gilmour LeTourneau - prolific inventor of earthmoving machinery. He was called to business, he had no qualms about sharing his faith. Every morning he shared devotion on the industry floors. It was in 1935, with the gigantic profits pouring out of the manufacturing business, at the gentle suggestion of his wife Evelyn, they transitioned to a 90/10 split with the Lord. 90% went to the Lord and 10% went to RG and Evelyn. LeTourneau was fond of remarking, “It’s not how much of my money I give to God, but how much of God’s money I keep for myself.”?He was commonly referred to as; 'mover of men and mountains'.
  21. William Wilberforce - a deeply religious English member of parliament and social reformer who was very influential in the abolition of the slave trade and eventually slavery itself in the British empire.
  22. Hellen Keller - could not see or hear but helped others to accept their challenges and try in life.
  23. Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni -?A sculptor, painter, and architect widely considered to be one of the greatest artists of the Renaissance. He was a master at depicting the body with such technical accuracy that marble was seemingly transformed into flesh and bone.
  24. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela - led the emancipation of South Africa from white minority rule and served as his country's first black president with a peaceful transition.

Dear reader, What are you doing for others? This can be as simple as a single kind word, smile, or thoughtful gesture. It can include giving time, care, skills, thought, or attention.?Writing a letter to a friend that lives far away· Calling up a relative who might be lonely· Checking on the wellbeing of your neighbor next door.?Also, studies indicate that the very act of giving back to the community boosts your happiness, health, and sense of well-being.
