SIMPLER
Do you wish things were SIMPLER or more complicated?
I wrote previously on SIMPLE and how DynaMed is highly valued for making the complex set of considerations when interpreting evidence SIMPLE to understand.
I write today’s message for myself: Make things as simple as possible but no SIMPLER.
Making it SIMPLE makes it EASY to use. Making it SIMPLER than possible makes it too easy to misuse.
Making it SIMPLER makes it EASY for others but I often find it hard to make it SIMPLER. Actually I don’t find it hard to make it SIMPLER, I find it time-consuming. Given enough time and attention it is easy to make it SIMPLER. And taking the time to make it SIMPLER is what has been successful in so many proposals and developments. But it takes time and I am not always patient.
I too often don’t take the time to be concise, or as Mark Twain said “I didn’t have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead.”
