Simple yet often overlooked.

Simple yet often overlooked.

A good percentage of social media accounts are 'managed' on behalf of business owners. A contractor or employee is providing regular, pre-approved updates. Reaching out to a social media account with a direct message is not likely to be delivered to the decision maker. Or is it?

Recently a direct message was made to one of our corporate accounts. The author, the CEO of his company, spoke to the fact that managed social media accounts were in-authentic, and likened it to being 'fake' because messaging was not originating from the owner of the account/company.

That originator did not expect the founder, the CEO of the business to respond directly to his DM on that social media account.

His message came directly to me.

I replied, followed with a phone call (to his assistant) and a set meeting time (remote). This action resonated with that CEO and a few short weeks later our company secured a very nice long-term contract.

If you outsource as so many do, be certain you are informed of any and all direct messaging to your social media accounts. Have those messages, unfiltered, delivered to you as soon as they are received and respond directly. You may be surprised.
