The simple steps to Breathing
I know we all, as business owners, have been dealing with the struggles of having our doors closed for quite some time now and it may create a negative outlook in the mind.
I Try to tell and teach people that the first step of anything is to breathe. Going full force into anything positive or negative will lead to some pain if you don't begin with a deep breath and a clear mind.
My daughters' boyfriend (first boyfriend/ last if I had a say, at least till she is mature enough to understand a few things) Broke up with her this past weekend, with all the things going on his mother saw my daughter at a grocery store without gloves on threw a conniption and things went astray from there. Disagreements on the COVID issue and probably separation issues, as well as the fact they are 13, led to this decision. She called me balling and went on for quite some time. You can feel that moment someone is breaking, where they are supposed to breathe.
This also happened in a text interchange with a potential client and friend. Not the breaking up but the moment felt where the person needed to breathe. Even in the way she was typing I could sense that with each sentence, the tension within her and exploding there on the page were the moments before the real flood of tears come out and child or not you become incoherent.
So I Teach the first steps of the day after getting up on your feet. First get up on your feet, for those who can not do this physically sit as upright as possible, chin up and create an open area to your chest. Spread your hands outward at your sides like your getting ready to give a big hug to someone, because in a way you are (yourself).
Next, you take in all the breathe you can from your mouth, yes first breath is in through the mouth, it takes in more. Take in as much as you can and then close your mouth and let it flow out through the nose. This may or may not clear out the sinuses. The next breath you are going to take is through your nose. snort in as much air as you can in that form. again hold it for a second and let it out slowly through your mouth.
Now for a second think of the magnificent creation that is this body is that there are so many ways to breathe and relax. This being no matter how it became is an amazing vessel. Nothing outside of it can compare to its many intricate parts that give us all the capabilities we can have at a time. The mind that is in its whole more powerful than supercomputers if put to the proper test. The body that in many ways rejuvenates itself from bruises and cuts, to hair, to just how it grows from a small egg to what we have now.
With this mighty system, we can find ways to show compassion, breed new life to the world (literally and metaphorically) build skyscrapers, create music and art, start businesses, lose them and start again, and many aspects of life I did not include because this post would be even longer than it is. Just remember that "the gifts we were given are bigger than the person we are" Heard John Maxwell Say this recently and again the words hit.
This Gift of life, The gift of abilities we already possess, the gift of compassion.
The Gift of Breathe!
