A simple and profound way to support each other at work

Have you ever been part of a peer coaching circle? Are you feeling hungry for deeper, more meaningful conversations? If so, read on.

TL:DR (in a nutshell)

Peer coaching circles are high-impact, low-cost ways of supporting each other in a world where we need each other more than ever.

We invite you to learn and experience the process tomorrow, Wednesday 9/21 at noon EDT to practice this "social technology" called the Peer Case Clinic (a.k.a the Coaching Circle"), using the method developed by the Presencing Institute , and used globally in u.lab (MITx) .

This Peer Coaching Circle intro is part of our free "Open House" for Changemakers@Work.

In October, we will be forming coaching circles of 6 peers, who will meet for 6 months - as part of a new online professional development and peer learning community. This month is free.

Changemakers@Work is a paid professional development community where you can get a ton of value, for less than half the cost of one hour of executive coaching. It's accessible, and we want you to join us starting October 1st.

The Deeper Why:

Too many people lately have said to me, "I'm feeling a bit lost" or "I'm feeling disconnected, and discouraged". I'm also hearing it in the tone and energy of friends and family. Globally, we are dealing with a growing mental health issue - with as many as 1 in 8 people suffering from depression or mental health issues.

"Quiet quitting" is a big conversation (happening mostly superficially)- and there is little agreement on whether it's good (people are finally setting boundaries between work and personal life) or bad (people are just punching the clock, and keeping their heads down, disengaged, uncommitted. What happened to our work ethic?).

What's missing? What's not working? What do we REALLY want our work-life to be about? Why can't work be more meaningful and impactful?

If you wrestle with any of these questions, you are not alone. The workplace is in flux. Because people like you and me - for whatever reasons - we are looking for more autonomy, connection, compassion, and meaning at work. And we don't want to be stagnant cogs in a wheel that is simply making some invisible entity (and high-level execs) more money.

Just.Not.Worth.It.Anymore.

That's why we've created an online space called Changemakers@Work to face these issues and current realities head-on. A place where we actually MEET and TALK about what matters, every week. A place where we explore new tools and ideas as well as our successes and challenges in real-time, together. Out loud.

Tell me more about these "Coaching Circles"

I first encountered the coaching circle in u.lab - back in 2015. I ended up in a coaching circle with Jac Sinclair , Kevin Stack , Fabiola Fuentes , Pere Francino , and Kai Costantini - what an incredibly eclectic crew! And we became uber-connected in the coaching circle way. I've run coaching circles for the LeMoyne u.lab hub in 2015, for professional women's networks, and for a local community hub in 2019/2020. These coaching circles have become a core part of my toolkit, and we can benefit from them more now than ever.

Antoinette Klatzky Klatzky is an early u.lab participant, and now part of the u.lab global team. She wrote this article, where she shares the following: "A coaching circle is not about having a personal coach sit with you and walk through your problems one-by-one, but a circle that acts almost as an alchemical crucible in applying deep listening to the case giver."
