Simple Life Lessons Learnt From 10 Puppies in 6 Months
We didn't intend on having puppies in our home, however a neighbours dog gifted our dog, by breaking into our yard one Summer night, and we are most grateful that they did, as they have added so much love, entertainment and experiences in our life.
On the 23rd March, this year, within 6 or so hours, their mum smoothly gave birth to ten beautiful little souls in our dining room near the fireplace, as it was the most temperature and flooring appropriate spot we had at the time.
Each of them most beautiful little Bitsa's, much like ourselves as Kelly and I have just as varied background genetics, we just are ourselves, no need for a label.
The first profoundly noticeably reinforced truth learnt from all these puppies, that they all have their quirks, and unique personality attributes, which increased the lessons they brought into our front and centre view to see and appreciate exponentially.
Here are 40 concepts the puppies helped us realise these past 6 months.
Time is truly relative to each life's experience, and a puppies first year is fast.
There is many ways to be a proud weirdo in the family, in this case, 10 plus us and their bisexual mums.
There is always one that will give the impression of 'wisdom beyond years' through the body language, when their real intent is to nap
There's always one particular sibling that makes a 'lot' of noise, but doesn't actually do much else
There's always some siblings that just randomly look at each other and go "wanna fight?" and the other goes "yeah" ...and it's on before they've finished replying
All aspects of laundry are fascinating only to those who cannot actually help with catching it up
Kids learn much quicker to pick up their toys and crap off the floor when at any moment there could be a stampede invasion of cuteness after socks, toys and anything they may need for school that morning
Cleaning routines are actually easier to create with puppies because you'll schedule it better, just to see the floor clean for an hour
Cuteness is no answer on 'guilt'
Husbands sometimes need help simplifying away from intricate barricades, and just shut the door...
Puppies don't need charging, pick up chargers
When on first walks out of the home, have more responsible individuals to help, rather than those attracted to the playgrounds
Puppy nap time is the best time to enjoy a coffee and quiet
Don't buy expensive toys, when an empty plastic bottle will do for longer
Puppies are a great way to test the durability of a tent, before going camping
Puppies cannot substitute for a secretary or VA, regardless of the coffee next to the computer they just walked on
Puppies help find hidden snacks, wrappers and laundry in kids rooms
Beauty comes in many many forms, as does cuteness and mischief
Puppies could have tested the Death Star for weaknesses, and the Rebels might not have won, ... they surely would have inspired the engineers to block up that hole Luke used
To encourage kids to bath/shower, surprise them with a swarm of puppies kisses, slobbers, and perhaps the odd muddy paw, or 40
Fitting cardboard in the recycle bin is actually easier when it's been ripped apart by a swarm of puppies

Houdini was definitely a puppy in a previous life
Recording videos sometimes just has to get done, regardless of one non sleeping puppy insisting that I know that there's an offending sparrow in the yard.
From the puppies Mum; Sometimes being a bitch is totally called for, but not always
Tough decisions do not mean we love, and care any less...
And Entrepreneurial lessons;
There is far more time in the day than most people think, believe or notice
Choosing to 'do' or 'do not' is much more efficient use of time than sitting pondering a decision to be made, and far better results
Implement your decision smoothly, Not Half Assed, puppies prove Half-Ass-ing anything doesn't work, and just wastes more time
Think faster
Fail fast
Very few things can't be re-recorded
Very few things can't be redone
'Sorry the puppies sent that last message when they got on my desk' is a great ice breaker in DM's
With true acceptance of change of circumstance, any challenge, any budget, and any strategy can be rewritten to be more efficient use of resources and time
Puppies can count as 'being in a meeting I'll reply later'
