The simple ingredient for apprenticeship success

The simple ingredient for apprenticeship success

I first came into the world of digital apprenticeships a little over two years ago and in this time, I have been truly inspired.

Not just by the talent and success of those coming through apprenticeship programmes, this doesn’t happen all by itself. It’s the amazing and dedicated people who are committed and passionate in making a difference and I have witnessed this first hand.

We hear very little about the unspoken heroes in our training provider community and the apprenticeship programme managers within organisations. They deserve some recognition as these are the people who are making apprenticeships work, helping aspirations become a reality.

The success stories filtering through our posts don’t just happen, talent needs to be nurtured and developed over time. Without these people who are busy working behind the scenes, who just love what they do, I don’t believe that we would be where we are today.

It’s not been an easy path, the last 18 months has had its challenges and is still a learning process for all involved, with still some way to go in helping employers on this journey.

However, the apprenticeship community is making great strides in coming together as one united voice, and this is where we are seeing positive change, it’s an exciting time for those involved.

At BCS we are excited, we are seeing the positive results of the efforts of all involved, with over 6000 BCS digital apprentices registered and we are not far away from our 400th EPA, with many more in the pipeline. Industry is now seeing a new generation of digital talent through apprenticeships that will help support the UK’s digital skills agenda. Some will go on and become our tech leaders of tomorrow and this boils down to the amazing support and mentoring that they receive from that one special ingredient - you.
