A simple email that drives more adoption from customers

Many good products weaves itself into the fabric of an organization. It starts with one person and grows, invite by invitee, share link by share link, until people can’t work without it.

That’s rarely an accident. Products that spread this way (Figma, Miro, etc.) are engineered to grow. One part of that: Email notifications that emphasize how many others are using your product.

The tactic

Don't want to read? I've recorded a 2 minute video about the tactic to share some more background:

This one’s simple: Send users an email whenever someone new joins their org. Metabase does this well:

The best thing about it? You only need to build it once. After you’ve built it, users will automatically get invites when they someone joins their org.

Why it works

If users feel like all of their teammates are using your product, they won’t want to fall behind. Users seeing this will feel an incentive to adopt your product as well. Even if they’re “just” preparing for collaboration with colleagues, they’ll become familiar with your product.

At it’s core, this leverages social proof: The human tendency to do what we see other people do—especially if we’re close to those people.
