Simple concepts worth remembering

About two days ago, I was thinking about which book I had in my possession, that I could use to accompany me on this leg of my journey. My thoughts were intercepted by a call from a friend who was thinking about using property, that has been in her family for generations, as a place for developing the minds and hearts of those in that community where her great grand, grand and both mother and father grew up.

We chatted about that community, which could itself be a microcosm of Trinidad and Tobago – a juxtaposition of crime versus a thriving hub of small businesses; where some people felt we were doomed versus other community members latching onto the hope that one day things would turn around and their children might enjoy what they did when they were children.

The book I chose to read, following that conversation was “Think and Grow Rich – a Black Choice” by Dennis Kimbro.

It’s an idea whose time has come…again!

Strong winds, strong tides, strong minds and strong destinies are gathering to sweep the race into new directions, new actions and new possibilities. Opportunities abound. The world waits to judge our valuation of ourselves, to see what we do with those opportunities that have escaped our grasp for so many years. The door has now opened and the freedom to walk through it is ours.

FREEDOM: to define WHAT you demand from life and WHAT YOU EXPECT TO GIVE IN RETURN.

Life is never about something for nothing. If you have a vision of where you would like to be, a strategy and plan of action for getting there, then know that you cannot get there being who you are now. I’m not talking about changing intrinsically – that aspect of yourself is one you must develop and leverage. Look at your habits, how you do what you do and ask yourself:

Based on my vision, what do I need to continue doing, what do I need to augment, what do I need to begin doing, and what do I need to stop!

And about those simple concepts?

  1. You are hardwired to be abundant. No one is designed to be broke, broken or to suffer
  2. In creating the life and abundance that you want – don’t use reasoning and figuring things out. Use the power of your imagination. When you visualize what’s possible for you, you stimulate your emotions – the seat of your creative energy.
  3. Let go of the past and embrace yourself and your uniqueness.
  4. Take care of your health and remember you need to rest. You are not meant to be ON all the time.
  5. Monitor your feelings. Recognize how people and places makes you feel. Not feeling good? Make a change – situation, environment or thought.
  6. Fear is never going to completely leave you so don’t let it stop you. As you take action your confidence will grow, increasing your ability to manifest those things that you want.
  7. If you are struggling, chances are you’re out of alignment. This is not punishment. Here are a couple reasons why you might be struggling.
  8. Focus on the one or two actions that will make the biggest difference. Dissipated focus results in fragmented energy, leaving you too tired to take action on what’s absolutely important.
  9. You are designed to be joyful. Pursue joy.

Your greatest job is to fill your place in the puzzle of life, the best way you can. Perhaps you can do this best by understanding yourself thoroughly, choosing strategies that best suit you, and taking effective action by communicating your solution, with clarity.

You have a very unique role in the evolution of Trinidad and Tobago. No one is tasked with this role but you. Being the most abundant expression of yourself is your greatest contribution to your country.
