Is it that simple?

There is a phrase, "Do what you love, love what you do!"
But is it that simple? No, I don't think it is. I think being good at something is a key element of loving it.
Take playing the guitar, for example, you don't pick it up for the first time and play "House of the Rising Sun" in the first 5 minutes, you have to learn the individual chords, go through the pain of the strings rubbing on your fingers, know how to pluck and strum, then remember the order of the notes to play the tune.
Learning can be tough and you only have to look at the number of second-hand instruments on eBay to see the number of wanna-be Jimmy Hendrix's who could not master the art.
To get good you need to practice and practice, then rinse and repeat till it becomes a habit.
Finding the thing you love sometimes takes a long time to uncover. Take me with speaking. I didn't take to a stage till I was over 50. It's never too late.
But I think there is another element to the phrase, and it's other people loving what you do! This is the thing that makes an impact on other people and sometimes gives you the strength to carry on when times get tough.
Thank you to Jay T for the testimonial from last week's event in London for 500 people.
If you are looking for an impactful speaker for your next event who LOVES what they do, give me a shout.

1 年Agreed, Alison #yourock. One of the ten values to "Be More Happipreneur" is "Do what you love and are good at". BTW "House of the Rising Sun" is one of the very few I can play OK on the guitar. Yay! #yourock Jenn Crowther Taryn Lee Johnston Jos Burton
