Simple 3 Step Litmus Test to Check if Your Company's Positioning is in a Mess


1. Ask your employees what makes your business special.

Some companies with meticulous efforts could get exact set of words they want the world to associate them with. A good company will get synonyms of it's positioning statement.

However, if you are lost in the deluge of adjectives, you can be assures that it is time for positioning exercise in the company. If your employees aren’t clear on what makes your business unique, chances are, your customers aren’t clear either.

2. Try creating a new tagline for your business

Does your company have a tag line? Try creating a new one.

Now try to see if it is the most defining feature of your product. If you are not able to express about your company in a single sentence, your customer is not getting the right information.

3 Your website and marketing content contains a lot of marketing cliches

Read your website from a neutral perspective. If you find a lot adjectives and circumlocutory statements, your positioning is really in mess.
