Simone Stolzoff wants you to reclaim life from work

Host, Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel | Senior Editor at Large @ LinkedIn
It's Juneteenth! To mark the occasion, we bring you this conversation with Alan Henry . His book is Seen, Heard and Paid: the New Work Rules for the Marginalized, and it's a useful primer for anyone looking to better understand the experience of many of our Black colleagues at work.
Here's how to plan for a "good enough" job
This is the final episode of our special series on what makes a good job. We’re exploring a larger idea with this series. Where does life’s meaning come from? Is a good job one that provides meaning? OR is a good job the kind of thing that allows you the time, resources and security to seek your meaning on your own?
Together, we’ve looked at how we search for work, and make sense of our opportunities. We’ve looked at what happens when businesses focus on supporting their employees rather than offering them a social mission. Today, we hear from an author who wants us to get out of the office whenever possible.
Simone Stolzoff is the author of The Good Enough Job: Reclaiming Life From Work . Simone wants to flip the script on good jobs entirely. Instead of putting all our energy into work and shoehorning our lives into the margins, he says our work lives should give us plenty of time to look for meaning outside of our jobs. He’s hopeful that his new book will enable us to be intentional about our vision for what a well-lived life looks like.?As we began our conversation, I pointed out what I shared with you at the top of our series: I grew up believing that if I worked hard, a good meaningful life would follow, as long as I did things I loved. That attitude was at the heart of the American dream for a while. Simone troubled those waters immediately. You can listen to the episode below, or anywhere you listen to podcasts!

Every Wednesday, we gather at 3pm EST to share coffee, or whatever you choose, and a bit of community. We always talk a bit about the episode, and we also check in with each other. Producer Sarah Storm and I go live from the LinkedIn News Page, and you can always find us right here . If you're able to make it, I hope you'll introduce yourself! We'd love to hear from you.
???Happy Pride! Join my family?in our small Pride action ?
Earlier this year I published a memoir about coming out . In my family, all three of us kids came out, and so did our father. To mark Pride this year, my wife and I hope to share this story widely.?We decided to undertake this small family Pride action after I received a letter from a woman in Arkansas with a photo of my book in the local library. It had been dedicated to a teenager who'd died by suicide. We believe that sharing stories like this is a powerful way we can show up for teenagers and for their parents. Here's a little bit about what we're doing
