I read an article on wheelchair tennis today. I know this sport as I competed in the past. Wheelchair tennis is often mentioned as being an eminently example of integration and inclusion: you can play with and against non-disabled people. But this is not seen in tournaments - even hardly on tenniscourts were people play for fun. So why is this mentioned as eminently example? I think because all tennis players and spectators can see and feel. On training grounds wheelchair tennis is played next to 'walking' tennis. At tournaments, the wheelchair division is brought as a separate class in the same tournament so spectators can experience the sport. On a side note - it would be better to mix wheelchair tennis more with the walking tennis, at this time the wheelchair guys start after the other classes played their finals. So the same as man & woman - those classes are also being mixed in the tournament.
So what's the similarity with project planning? Most project managers and program managers are not aware that a project planner is not an administrative assistant who helps with the burdon called planning, but a valuable team member who can make or break the project. A good network schedule is necessary to have proper critical path management. A good update structure is needed to keep the project on track and to identify delays before they become problems. A project planner will save >50% of the time needed to spend to planning by your complete team and make your team meetings more efficient as only impacted on the project schedules need to be discussed (so no updates anymore during the team meetings, only results/remediation to be discussed there).
Do you want to experience a project planner? Increase the diversity of your project team? I would be happy to discuss and show results. Drop me an e-mail at [email protected]
