Silicon Valley and Israel
Working in Silicon Valley this past week I found that as ever the place is buzzing with something new. Is it a unicorn? Is it a superman? No, it's a plane. Next spring the first ever non-stop service between San Francisco and Tel Aviv will enter service.
So many people here are saying "this will change my life". I'm sure they're right.
This part of the world is very connected with Israel and very comfortable with Israel. The other day I was driving behind a car whose bumper sticker was the design here. It got me thinking. I love being a Brit and living in London, and I love Israel too. While both places have their own unique shortcomings, it's an amazing privilege to live in one and visit the other as often as I do. But would I dare to put a Love Israel bumper sticker on my car at home in London? No way. Am I being a wimp about this or simply realistic?
On the other hand, there are already 6+ daily non-stop flights between London and Tel Aviv. So really I should count myself lucky.
In case anyone doubted it for a moment, I will continue going to Israel very, very regularly. And I will give the bumper sticker a miss.

Great post Richard. I still haven't been to Israel and yet I've been saying I should go for the last 10 years. Anyway, let's catch up soon - it's been too long. Rupert.
Elie Wurtman I will be there in Feb., would love to see you and catch up (it's only been 25 or so years). Best,
