ALTICE REPORTEDLY CONSIDERING OFFER FOR CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS: 

The French cable company and its subsidiary Altice USA, which is an investor in Cheddar, are trying to work out an offer, according to CNBC. The company has hired bankers, but reportedly has not approached Charter with a bid. A potential offer comes on reports that Japanese conglomerate SoftBank is also interested in the cable operator. Any deal, though, would have to satisfy not only the shareholders and board of the buyer, but also Charter's biggest shareholder, Liberty Media and its chairman, John Malone.


COULD WAL-MART BUY BIRCHBOX?:

Birchbox reportedly in talks to sell itself to several retailers. Wal-Mart is one possible buyer for the beauty-subscription start-up, according to Recode. Birchbox has raised more than $80 million since its founding in 2010, but has struggled to show profitability. The start-up received a $15 million lifeline from an investor in 2016. Wal-Mart has also recently bought online retailers Bonobos and ModCloth.


HERE'S WHY MICROSOFT SHARES BRIEFLY FELL TODAY: 

Microsoft shares briefly fell Wednesday on news that an activist investor sold nearly 7 million shares of the company's stock. The stake is worth more than $500 million. ValueAct President Mason Morfit has held a seat on Microsoft's board since 2013, when Steve Ballmer was still chief executive, and invested $2 billion in the company. At that time, the company was trading between $30-$35 a share. Now under Satya Nadella, the stock is above $70 per share.

Silicon Valley is antiquated now. Lots of new innovative locations in the world now, especially in Europe and North Asia.
