This high-purity silicon metal  is used by many industries. In the chemical industry pury silicon metal  is used for producing silicon compounds as well as silicon wafers used in photovoltaic solar cells and electronic semiconductors. And aluminum manufacturers use it to improve the already useful properties of aluminum. When used with aluminum, silicon improves its castability, hardness and strength.

When metal silicon powder is smelted, its reaction process is in a relatively low temperature solid state. The thermodynamic range of metal silicon production must grasp the phase equilibrium principle of the cross reaction between elements and alloys in the Si-O-C system and the melting temperature.

 

The large amount of heat (69-72% of the total heat consumption) required for the reduction reaction of metal silicon mainly comes from the arc high temperature combustion zone at the bottom of the electrode (working end). In this combustion zone, a gas hole (also known as the high temperature reflection zone) is formed, in which the material is melted and decomposed. There are many kinds of intense and complex reactions, such as combination, ionization, vaporization, boiling, sublimation and phase transition.
