The biggest league attendance ever at Anfield in the club's history, witnessed their side relinquish their grip on top of the league after the weekend’s fixture.?Allison still kept his virginity against the Red Devils on home ground, but that alone couldn’t steal the headlines as the Reds frontline squandered many chances. Thirty-four shots on goal, with no goal scored left a dent in Liverpool’s title aspirations this season.??
A bad result for the Reds. The first point dropped at home this season. And the first time in thirty-four matches that the Reds didn’t find the back of the net. They were just 90 minutes from setting a new club record under Klopp.?United’s first draw of the season, felt like a win, coming back into this match in very poor form. But they managed to shut out their red-hot rivals away from home. A good defensive game by United may have just bought extra time for their coach who is currently on his “last life” as Manager of Manchester United.???
Manchester City’s kryptonite glows again
Crystal Palace yet again found a way to burst City’s bubble as they came back from a goal down to claim a draw in injury time against the defending champions. Manchester City went to the break in this tie leading by a goal. After the 60th minute, City had a two-goal advantage, coasting to what looked like a routine home win. Little did they know that Palace had a few crystals on the field who would change the game's outcome in the second half.
Goals from Mateta and Olise secured a draw in dramatic circumstances for the Eagles.??Winless in their last three fixtures at home, the Citizens desperately need to find a way out of their current slump or risk falling further back behind in this season’s exciting title race. One victory in their last six games in the league, saw Aston Villa overtake Manchester City to third place ahead of Christmas.

Kudus swings his magic wand in London
Kudusmania hits London yet again. A superlative first-half performance by Ghana’s new darling boy, made him write his name in the record books of the EPL, scoring the earliest brace by a player in a Premier League match. Two first-half goals by Kudus at the London Stadium contributed to a commanding performance by the Hammers on their home turf. Heading to the new year, we are curious to see how the Black Stars coach utilizes the massive potential of Kudus on the field at AFCON in January.??A commanding performance at home sets the tone for the Hammers heading towards a busy schedule with tough matches against United, Arsenal, and Brighton. The upcoming fixture list will test David Moyes’ side as they look to put the disappointing results against Fulham behind them.
The Gunners are back on top
?Arsenal laid down a marker for their rivals this weekend, putting to bed a record that has seen the Gunners win just one of their last five matches against the Seagulls. I wrote the Gunners off against Roberto De Zerbi’s flamboyant side who scored goals for fun in the league. But the Gunners managed incredibly to shut down Brighton in this fixture and secure a two-nil victory at home, taking them back to the top of the table.
Another goal for Kai Havertz who has used the past couple of games to pay back the faith Mikel Arteta had to entice him with a move away from the Blue side of London. Scoring four goals in the last five games, the German attacker, ever-present in the coach’s line-up almost every week is brimming with confidence yet again. Perhaps he will score the winning goal for the Gunners, securing that elusive title. Can the Gunners finally win the EPL this season after a long drought of success? Time will tell.

1 年That draw didn't feel like a win and contrary to the media's narrative, Ten Haag is not on his "last life". And I don't think the Gunners will win the title but I would be delighted if they do.
