Silent Nights’ Authors Make Noise at Playwell
The Indiependent Collective (IndieCo) launched Silent Nights: Finding Hope in The Horrible last November 7, sharing the authors’ heartfelt stories about their Pandemic Christmas to the world.?
IndieCo held a book signing event for its release at Playwell Toy Market (PTM) in Greenhills Promenade on November 6, where they sold it along with their other products. A day before the release, they also organized a book signing event for its first anthology in the same venue.
One of the contributors is Hazel Pagulayan whose work was published in both anthologies.?
“Playwell Ph experience was great! It was nice to see the Silakbo writers again and was awesome to meet new contributors for Silent Nights. What I like most was that it was quite intimate. I mean compared to our MIBF experience (it was a big event, I guess the chaos was already given) the Playwell book signing was more organized and each authors were given ample time to sign books,” she said as she looked forward to IndieCo’s next event.
Fiona Gurtiza, a writer and poet, was also a contributor to Silent Nights and took part in the book signing.
“It felt humbling and truly rewarding to join the stage alongside fellow contributors and meet people who purchased the book in person. Despite being a four-time published author, it was my first time to participate in a book signing event,” she said.?
Kyle Pingol is another contributor to Silent Nights who joined the book signing for the first time.?

“For me, it was nerve-wracking and exciting, kasi this is a first for me. I think book signing is one of the things a writer should look out for. Kasi it helps you meet fans who like your work. But this is also like a starting ground for your works, today is a collection, maybe next time, novelist na haha. This experience makes me want to join various anthologies, kaya this burned a fire in me to write more,” he shared.
Silent Nights, referring to a popular Christmas carol, showcases 28 stories from various Filipino writers on how the pandemic changed their way of celebrating the Philippines’ most awaited holiday, Christmas.
The anthology is in collaboration with 8Letters, a one-stop shop independent publishing company that aims to assist indie artists.?
