Silence them with your success - Kritika Raju

There was a little boy named Rakesh, who was born in small town Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Rakesh was the only son of Kumarswamy an electrician and Radhika a homemaker.

He was often picked by his friends in school for being poor. Initially Rakesh used to cry, come home and tell his parents that he wouldn’t go to school.

But then one day his Grandmother told him that if he stopped going to school, his friends would win the battle. Rakesh asked his granny what he should do?

Granny told him, that if he went to school everyday, studied well and got good grades, then his friends would not be mean to him.

Rakesh thought about this the whole night, and decided to study hard from the next day. He used to come home from school and study daily.

After completing his annual exams, it was the time for his results.

For all the hard work and determination Rakesh had put in, he stood 1st in his class. His friends were astonished, but went forward and apologized to him for their behaviour.

He came back home and asked his granny what he should do next? His granny told him that if he continued to put in his efforts nothing can stop him from succeeding.

From then on, Rakesh went on to complete his 10th and 12th with flying colors. Rakesh then went on to become one of the greatest Civil Engineer’s in the the state.

He was then called to give motivational speech in his college, where he thanked his friends for being mean to him. He gives the students just one piece of advice - Sometimes in life the most negative influence can motivate us to be successful.

He also thanks his grandmother for her valuable advice: For those who think small of us, our success should be enough to silence them

Well written. I'm reminded of the American sprinter Justin Gatlin who once spat across Usain Bolt's lane in an effort to intimidate him. Bolt who was then an upcoming athlete decided to earn the respect of champions by being the best. The pain had taught him a lesson. Thereafter Usain trained harder and beat Gatlin in many races. He said he was motivated by that insult.
