It is in the quiet and fallow times that the field replenishes its nutrients so that the fresh seeds planted there at another time can bloom and blossom and grow and be fruitful.?
Our lives are no different. During times where it seems as though nothing is happening and that things are not coming together in that way that we had dreamed, at the pace that we had anticipated, with the ease and excitement that we thought we would have – it is in those times that we are gathering the absolutely necessary components for our future success.?
Success does not happen in a vacuum.?
Success does not stand in a field all by itself.?
Success is built off of inspiration and knowledge and insight. It is built on the back of the hard and unsexy stuff.? The mundane.? The methodical.
The days, the weeks, the years of the building – of prepping the soil and curating the seeds, of nurturing those first little trial plants and of testing our ability to repeat their growth again and again – that is the turf on which the fight for success is truly won.
When the seed has been planted but nothing has sprouted yet. The game is not over.? It’s hardly even begun.
Silence is not doing nothing.?

Stillness is not doing nothing.?
I look around and I see countless people sharing their story second by second, minute by minute, blow by blow as it unfolds. So often they're sharing the highlight reel, the sizzle reel, the amazing things that happened. But what about those moments of devastation? What about those moments of profound loss of grief, of heart wrenching defeat??
What about those moments where you poured all of your heart and your energy and your effort into something that you expected to go off with a bang and it only gave you a whimper??
What about those moments when it’s not the right time to be visible?? What about those moments when you’re under the soil, germinating, preparing???
Too often we look at our lives from the middle.?
We read our stories from the middle.?
We watch other people's stories from the middle, and it gives us a false expectation, a false narrative, a faulty starting place that makes us in the beginning of our stories feel less worthy, less joyful, less successful.??
My friends, today I want to encourage you to recognize where you are in your own story and to stop buying into the belief that you can have success without going through the process of building it.
