Signs for Renewable Sector in India: A relook for the period of Jan-July 2019
Recently Prime Minister stated that India is going to install 450 GW renewable energy to tackle the issue of the pollution and environment concern. The industry has given mix reaction on the statement. While some supported it while others pointed the concerns and issues, the sector is facing.
The renewable energy segment is changing in a big way and that too on daily basis. Number of regulations, its amendments and policies are coming on state as well at central level to meet the initial target of 175 GW by 2022.
Inergystat has taken an initiative in this direction and has clubbed the updates on the Indian Renewable Energy sector on half-yearly basis through our new report “Half-yearly update report on Renewable Sector in India (Jan-July 2019)”. The first issue of the report covering H1 of CY 2019-20 was released tomorrow, i.e., on October 10, 2019.
We have summed up the renewable energy sector at sector wise and at state wise level to provide the exact situation of the sector.
Inergystat is pleased to share the broader findings of the report with you all. The findings are:
- Gujarat added the highest RE capacity during H1 CY 2019-20.
- Except Jammu and Kashmir and Maharashtra, all other renewable rich states (with RE potential above 50 GW) have added more than 500 MW during Jan-July 2019
- Andhra Pradesh added almost 1/5th of the total ground mounted solar of the state in this period.
- Maharashtra has added only 48 MW capacity during the period, which is minuscule, considering total RE installed capacity being 9.34 GW.
- Himachal Pradesh has seen major boost during the period in term of solar power and around 23 MW out of 27 MW installed capacity was added during Jan-Jul 2019.
- No capacity addition in the state of Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Sikkim, Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep since Dec 2018
