Signs from the Universe: An Inspiring Conversation Between Lewis Howes and a Monk

Ever seek confirmation that you're on the right path? Maybe you hinge messages on the next song you hear, or stumble upon a relevant book passage that reassures you. Personally, I find solace in these small signs, appreciating the path I travel.

Whether it be finding a feather in an unusual location, a penny that seems to drop right in front of me, or a hummingbird fluttering within arms length, the Universe always seems to respond.

Such a "hit" came my way today while grocery shopping.

My food shopping routine - plug in an earbud and dive into a podcast. Why one earbud? Well, gosh, I also like to engage in conversations with other shoppers from time to time.

Today, my earbud companion was the insightful Lewis Howes, hosting a revered Buddhist monk. The topic revolved around how our dietary habits influence our energy levels - a concept familiar, yet utterly profound when narrated through the lens of a monk's mindfulness and intentional living.

Their discussion painted a compelling picture:

?Energy-Food Connection: Our body, like any machine, depends on the quality of fuel it receives. A diet rich in complex carbs, wholesome proteins, and healthy fats fuels sustained energy, while processed foods and sugars are catalysts for energy crashes. This was a testament to the vitality my plant-based diet gives me, as well as providing clarity and focus.

Mindful Eating: This is an invitation to be present at meals, savoring each bite, and attuning to our body's cues. I like to extend this mindfulness, pondering over the effort of all the people that went into getting my meal to my plate and expressing gratitude for a meal free from animal harm.

Common Nutritional Mistakes: The conversation highlighted typical missteps - skipping meals, caffeine overreliance, nutrient imbalance, consuming unhealthy foods - that can zap our energy.

The chat was not just enlightening but a gentle nudge to view food beyond sustenance, but also as a vital force nourishing our body and quality of life.

If increasing your awareness about food and delving deeper into mindful food choices and honoring your body through food, I recommend the NHA Virtual Conference taking place June 22 - 25th.
