Significant milestones at our Clifton development

At our flagship development on Farnborough Road, Clifton in Nottingham, we've been celebrating some key events this month.

It’s with a real sense of pride that I get to see our plans begin to take shape, and the noticeable progress that’s been made each time I visit. You can really see the new Pelham designed community beginning to take shape, new head office for NCHA, supported housing and older people accommodation, as well as provision for local community groups to continue to use the space.

I’ve detailed our recent progress below.

Topping off!

There’s been some great progress by contractors GEDA Construction and we’re on track for handover next year.

The main office shell is complete, with both roof and glass sky-light for the atrium fitted.

The bungalows are already water tight and internal plastering has begun. Installation starts this week on the living roofs, and we’re really excited to see how these bed in and transform the aspect of the site.?

Naming the roads and buildings

We’ve been working with Nottingham City Council and parish and ward councillors to name the buildings and roads that are emerging.

It’s been a great opportunity to celebrate the local area, and honour the memory of our founding CEO.

The three new roads will be called: Charnwood Way (in memory of the community centre that used to be on the site), Fairham Brook Drive and Silverdale Road, both in reference to the brook that borders the edge of the site.

Our office building will be christened Clifton Place, in recognition of the new suburb we’ll soon be calling home. Whilst the apartments for older people will be known as Farnborough Court, a direct nod to the community they will become a big part of.

Finally, we’ve taken the opportunity to remember and pay tribute to our founding CEO, Andrew Malone. The completed supported housing scheme will be named Malone Terrace.

Welcoming the local MP

Lilian Greenwood , MP for Nottingham South, was keen to take a tour of the emerging community.?

We talked her through our plans, our reasons for moving, and our hopes for the community we’re going to be creating. A tour of the site allowed us to go up on the roof of the office and into the bungalows and independent living flats.

Lilian told us: "It was great to see the former college site on Farnborough Road in Clifton being put back into use, and to explore the community that's being created by NCHA. I was especially pleased to hear about the green roofs and other environmental measures and the consideration of the local?community groups who are already based on site.

?"I look forward to a return visit to what will no doubt be a buzzing hub here in Clifton, a place for people to live, work and play."
