SIGNIFICANCE OF TRANSIT PLANETS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY
In understanding the significance of transit planet and its results, one firstly need to understand the nature of that planet first.
For example, when we want to study the transit of Mars then nature of mars needs to be studied first.
Mars has got nature of temperament with a warrior mentality. It elevates the animal nature of a person and it rules qualities like courage, confidence, leadership. But on the other hand, it can also lead to negative qualities like anger, rage, short-tempered, hatred, impulsive nature and insensitivity.
So the transit will gives the results in that temperament of Mars as per the significance of that horoscope. If mars signifies positives significance the it will give the results with its positive signified qualities and vise-versa.
Generally, it is spoken that mars will give the results signified by that house during its transit as per that horoscope.
We come across many predictions of the transit planets in net and other media. They come true with few and maximums are untrue.
So, it’s a general prediction and cannot be considered as a dictum of vedic astrology.
In astrology the dictums are that kind of prediction that it will happen with everyone when the horoscope falls under those combinations and that is real astrology.
In vedic astrology transit planets are important but their mode of functioning is different and their way of giving the effects / results / impacts are different.

So mahadasha planet and transit planet, both are dependable and cannot give a result individually on their own.
For example, In an event of marriage if its not destined in the horoscope in the destiny level then even if the mahadasha is signifying the marriage event and the transit planet is also ready to activate it, the marriage won’t happen.
The mahadasha and the transit planet will create an environment of marriage during that period of time but marriage will not happen.
So in vedic astrology the promised event of a horoscope is given by mahadasha as it decides the timing of the event and the transit planet act like a switch button to activate that event during their transit.
Mahadasha planet can deny an event promised by the horoscope in destiny level, if the mahadasha planet do not significance that event during its ruling period. Then even the transit planet is signifying that event during its transit, the event will not happen.
So mahadasha and transit planet are inter-dependable to produce a promised result of a horoscope at some state and mahadasha planet is also independent some time for a result.
So in a nutshell transit planets are important in giving a result but they have their own way of functioning it and they are dependable on the promise made in the horoscope.
