The Significance of Communication, Respect, and Responsiveness in True Success

My article today is attesting to something that I have constantly found strange along the entrepreneurial journey.

That is, people and their communication....timeframes.

For me, I have always found it respectful to respond to people as soon as possible and the more and more I have walked this journey and come in to contact with so many people, I would be lying to say that I once gave my power away to somebody taking their advice and not responding to people for several days to show a perception that my time was valuable.

Want to know how long that lasted?

1/2 a day !

Who was I kidding!

My time is no more valuable than anybody else's. We are all busy but quite literally if I have a few minutes between meetings, travel or whatever then sure what is stopping me.

( Everybody who knows me, knows they get a message on my rest periods in the gym! )

I also personally feel it is dismissive of others time, disrespectful if I am honest too and rude especially on most social platforms where you can see who has clearly 'read' your message and don't respond for days even weeks.

Now I am not dimishing that people don't have lives and are not busy, but I am here with an article to reach out to anybody reading this and whom is coming from the angle of perception of them being more busy than those reaching out and what it can actually do.

You see, the irony is, the more and more truly successful people I built relationships with through my organisation whether famous or of significant wealth, there was a trend becoming so apparent to me.

That was that their communication was spot on and so responsive in such a short manner of time. It absolutely blew me away to the point it confirmed so much of what I always found so funny on this journey and why I decided to write this article.

I mean, here you have those who you would think wouldn't have any time to respond to you and guess what they do rather quickly, have their team to respond asap if they can't and always apologise if it takes them a moment.

Hey, I always make it very clear that there is no judgement passed here, just mere observations that through societal conditioning, people can and do act.... so i hope you enjoy.

Success is often perceived as an outcome achieved through talent, hard work, and determination. While these qualities play a crucial role in attaining one's goals, there is an additional attribute that distinguishes truly successful individuals: their exceptional communication skills and their understanding of the importance of respect and responsiveness. In contrast, those who merely pretend to be successful often neglect the value of effective communication, disregarding the impact it can have on their personal and professional relationships. In this article, we explore why genuine success is closely intertwined with communication, respect, and the willingness to prioritize others, regardless of their level of success.

Communication as the Key to Success:

Communication forms the bedrock of human interaction. It enables the exchange of ideas, fosters understanding, and builds connections. Truly successful individuals recognize the power of effective communication, as it allows them to articulate their vision, motivate others, and cultivate collaborative environments. Whether it's expressing their thoughts clearly, actively listening to others, or adapting their communication style to diverse audiences, these individuals recognize that strong communication skills are vital for achieving their goals.

Understanding the Importance of Respect:

Respect is an essential element of successful relationships, both personal and professional. Genuine success involves acknowledging the worth and dignity of every individual, regardless of their status, achievements, or societal position. True success is not measured by material possessions or job titles, but by the way people treat others. Successful individuals understand the value of respect as a fundamental aspect of their character. By treating others with kindness, empathy, and consideration, they foster an atmosphere of trust and goodwill that facilitates collaboration and opens doors to new opportunities.

Responsiveness: The Mark of a True Success:

Responsiveness is often overlooked, yet it is a key characteristic of truly successful individuals. The ability to promptly and sincerely respond to others, regardless of their level of success, demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and a genuine concern for people. Whether it's replying to emails, returning phone calls, or following up on commitments, the successful understand the importance of being responsive. They recognize that every interaction is an opportunity to nurture relationships, build networks, and create positive impressions that can yield long-term benefits.

Pretenders to Success: The Danger of False Priorities:

On the other hand, individuals who pretend to be successful often fall into the trap of prioritizing their self-perceived importance above all else. They may disregard communication, respect, and responsiveness, falsely believing that delayed responses or neglecting to engage with others will project an image of busyness and importance. In reality, this behavior only creates distance, erodes trust, and damages relationships. It's important to note that genuine success is never threatened by taking the time to engage with others, regardless of their level of achievement.

Conclusion:

True success extends beyond personal accomplishments and encompasses the ability to effectively communicate, demonstrate respect, and remain responsive to others. Success is not measured solely by financial wealth or professional accolades, but by the positive impact we have on others and the meaningful connections we foster. Individuals who recognize the power of communication, understand the importance of respect, and prioritize responsiveness rise above the facade of pretenders to success. By embracing these qualities, we can cultivate an environment that values genuine connections, mutual growth, and the collective achievement of goals, thereby contributing to a more fulfilling and successful life.

Glenn Marsden

Glenn Marsden you're right on the money with this. I find it incredibly disrespectful to not respond promptly to whatever is needed. It's like there are these unwritten rules that some people seem to know and they center around rudeness. Making people wait, using others instead of giving and I want no part of that. I think this article was very timely. Thank you.
