Signal 8: AI-pricing
Rob Litterst expects the value of generative AI tools to be highly specific to the vertical they're operating in.

Signal 8: AI-pricing

Takeaway:

Most people think that AI tools are “free” but they are already competitively priced. You won’t just pay for the use of AI but you’re also paying for the agency's knowledge and expertise in using AI effectively, so look for integration.

Most AI tools are functional to a level that would make them worthwhile. But most are not free.

Microsoft’s Bing AI chatbot, for instance, needs at least $4 billion of infrastructure to serve responses to all Bing users. It costs a lot to train them and to use them. Even after they are trained and built, they need a lot of computing power to answer questions.

So, what will happen next?

More competition and innovation in the generative AI field, could lower the prices of generative AI tools as they become more standardized and accessible. Even as fixed pricing becomes the standard, they still vary by industry/function.

Another factor that may affect the price of generative AI tools is the integration of tech and communications. Just as in the early internet days, web agencies became more integrated by offering a range of services that combine different aspects of tech and communications. Some agencies may combine different pricing methods or offer customized packages depending on the needs and preferences of their clients.?It doesn’t mean you only need one agency but think about eventual integration.
