signageOS Ditches AWS for Revolutionary Transformation ??

San Francisco, California, April 1st, 2024_ signageOS proudly unveils an epic transformation in its infrastructure. signageOS is transitioning from the renowned AWS servers and will run the entire infrastructure as a Peer-to-Peer network, leveraging the full potential of connected displays.

Yes, you heard correctly! Displays are no longer passive endpoints for content. By adopting P2P technology, each digital signage display becomes an active participant in a collaborative network, enabling direct communication and resource sharing without relying on a central server.

Having reached the necessary number of endpoints for smooth P2P operations, signageOS no longer requires AWS infrastructure. This strategic shift marks a pivotal change in how businesses interact with their displays. Decentralized control ensures that every display contributes to network management and stability. By harnessing P2P technology directly through displays, we unlock a myriad of new possibilities. This not only slashes operational costs (to nearly zero) but also significantly enhances network speed and efficiency.

Security remains a paramount focus for signageOS, and we guarantee that our new approach is 100% SOC 3 Type II compliant.

The benefits of P2P networking for our clients are substantial. Expect unmatched uptime, rapid updates, and robust resilience against disruptions. Starting April 1st, your displays will automatically connect to this next-generation network, ushering in a new era of digital signage empowered by collaborative technologies.

So, buckle up and get ready to be amazed as we redefine what's possible in the digital signage landscape. Let's make magic happen together !

Note: Keep an eye on your display; it might wink back at you today ??.

While this is a joke, it is (was?) how Twitter deployed updates to their infrastructure a decade ago (https://github.com/lg/murder). Distributing signage content over p2p might be challenging in regulated industries, but I don't think it's silly for a lot of use cases.
