Sign on to change California nonprofit-government contracting
We know that nonprofits -- especially in health and human services -- use government funding to allow us to reach large numbers of people. What's less known: government relies on nonprofits as the supply chain for services -- for example, 1/3 of Medi-Cal services are delivered by nonprofits.
We may be at a moment of opportunity to change how government contracts with nonprofits. During the pandemic, many government agencies streamlined their paperwork, moved away from unreasonable documentation requirements, issued payments faster, and allowed for flexibility without lengthy budget amendment processes. Now: we need to keep these improvements, and expand on them to be sure that we nonprofits can continue to be the backbone of services we are.
Please take a look at this letter to California's state leaders that addresses specifically how contracting needs to be improved. And join us and hundreds of other nonprofits by signing onto the letter to show you know this issue to be crucial: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf4ktxWu1avyv2Fgq5O3Lcya0zHCaAVJMg8hWrgxKWRSaxT8w/viewform
And let me and other coalition leaders know how to strengthen our work! Jan
