More Than a Dream

The Spirit Of Forgiveness

I have found in my travels and listening to the oppressed and oppressors in the world that most agree with affirmatives,

reconciliation,tolereance, reconstruction, transformation, and the way forward. A great enigma of the Descendants Of American Slaves, a people extracted to a vast inescapable land and enslaved from 1509 to 1865, persecuted from 1865  today is that they remain sanguine. This lies somewhere in a mysterious spirit of forgiveness.

In my life I have had numerous people ask what do Descendants Of Americans Slaves mean when they speak of forgiveness. This was recently highlighted during the royal wedding when a Descendent Of American Slave (DOAS) priest focused of love and forgiveness. My phone was bombarded with calls inquiring about the former slave’s concept of forgiveness.

I HOPE THIS PROVIDE AN INSIGHT IN TO THE DOAS ON THIS MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DAY.

In spite of the fact that the law of revenge solves no social problems, men continue to follow its disastrous leading. History is cluttered with the wreckage of nations and individuals that pursued this self-defeating path.

FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness is not an occasional act. It is a permanent attitude. submit, to forgive and to be free to move on in time?

Forgiveness does not mean ignoring what has been done or putting a false label on an evil act. It means, rather, that the evil act no longer remains as a barrier to the relationship. Forgiveness is a catalyst creating the atmosphere necessary for a fresh start and a new beginning.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a constant attitude.

NO NATION RACE OR GROUP SHOW DEPEND ON ONE POLITICAL PARTY

Forgiveness is the intentional and voluntary process by which a victim undergoes a change in feelings and attitude regarding an offense, and overcomes negative emotions such as resentment and vengeance (however justified it might be).

In the extent to which one believe forgiveness also implies replacing the negative emotions with positive attitudes .

Many nations have erred in substituting national reconciliation for the individual responsibility, individual forgiveness.

FORGIVENESS DOES NOT LINGER. FORGIVENESS IS AN END

Forgiveness is not :

·      Condoning (failing to see the action as wrong and in need of forgiveness),

·      Excusing (not holding the offender as responsible for the action), 

·      Forgetting (removing awareness of the offense from consciousness),

·      Pardoning (granted for an acknowledged offense by a representative of society, such as a judge) and reconciliation (restoration of a relationship TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION).

·      Repatriations

·      Affirmatives

Forgiveness must be granted without restorative justice. Restorative justice is impossible to optimize  and leads to new injustice and elite enrichment

Forgiveness results in individual freedom from the bondage of social and political enslavement and manipulations of hate.

Forgiveness is the greatest resource of a struggle. Forgiveness is the only divine merit of a struggle. Forgiveness is the only solution.
