F.lli Righini Srl?from Ravenna was asked by one of its major clients, to quickly find a solution to prevent an order in Scotland from being delayed. It concerns a system used for the installation of an off shore wind field.

F.lli Righini decided to turn to Sighinolfi to quickly develop a cylinder with extremely customized features. We’ve already had the pleasure of working with them in the past, we showed them the competence of our R&D department, the client appreciated our decade of experience in the production of large and special cylinders as well as our flexibility, facilitated by the high-tech machine park that ensures direct management of our manufacturing at all stages of the production cycle.

The owner ENG. Renzo Righini contacted Mr. Marco Sighinolfi, head of the R&D office, in mid-January with an idea that was then turned into a structured project by the technical manager Mr. Alfonso Zoboli.

Among the several difficulties encountered, the main ones were:

  • assisting the customer in identifying the suitable type of cylinder for the specific purpose: just one cylinder or two? Single-or double-acting? With one or two stages? The process of turning an idea/need into a defined project required 3 weeks of full-time work by our technical manager.
  • identifying the appropriate materials for the marine environment combined with the specific customer requests.
  • Certification at third-party Lloyd’s Register and fulfillment of specific standards regarding materials, the calculation report that must be submitted to the external surveyor, the tests that have to be carried out with supervision of the external surveyor’s technicians as well as the client and final customer.
  • The timing proved to be one of the biggest challenges. Achieving such a project in only 2 months is something exceptional which required extraordinary effort and resilience. It was made possible not only through the efforts of its internal team, but also through a network of collaborators built up over years of professionalism and seriousness.

As a result of these joint efforts, the telescopic cylinder of enormous dimensions (540/500/392/340 x440+3930 mm) and of 12,50ton of weight was delivered on time.
