German engineering group Siemens has won an order for the turnkey construction of a 1.3GW combined cycle power plant in Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil.
The GNA 1 LNG-to-Power project is currently being built in the Port of A?u and is owned by Gás Natural A?u, a joint venture between Siemens, BP and Brazilian logistics firm Prumo Logística.
Siemens will supply the complete power island of the power plant, including three H-class gas turbines, four generators, a steam turbine, heat recovery steam generators and instrumentation and control systems.
In addition to the construction order, Siemens signed a long-term service agreement for the operations and maintenance of the LNG-fired power plant.
Once operational, the GNA1 project will meet the power demands of up to four million people.
