The side of the story from a recruiter perspective in this 2020

2021 is almost around the corner, there is some nostalgia because this year finally ends.

I want to share my personal experience in this mythical year. Doing introspection, I realized that I was taking a lot for granted. One of them my job in Framework Science as an IT recruiter, a role that I have learned and master with months of experience in the company. It was when in March of this year that I started working remotely. From the situation we were going through, both locally and nationally, different industries began to close, leaving thousands of people without jobs. I realized a national and global economic collapse, without leaving aside the collapse at the health level, the medical industry could not cope with the increasing numbers of infections with hospitals overcrowded with Covid patients.

Facing this situation, my head turned into a sea of worries, which began to deteriorate in June of this year, I began to have insomnia and an exponential drop in my job productivity. (both somewhat complex family situations, loss of people close to me, seriously ill friends, crisis interventions for my loved ones), I tried to dress up as Wonder Woman for people who were more vulnerable than me.

As the days of June passed, my quality of sleep declined, I looked for my support network and fortunately after a few months, I began to have a better quality of sleep.

In October I began to realize how this pandemic was beginning to affect the IT industry, many of my candidates were about to lose their jobs, mostly due to contract termination, project discontinuity, and/or staff cuts. My idea as a recruiter was to look for viable alternatives and projects for each of them, always with the scoop that they finished the process successfully.

I felt the obligation to give the best possible service to the people who trusted me and Framework Science as an employment opportunity, I wanted the hiring process of each one to be as pleasant as possible. Many of my candidates were accepted by other organizations, some others were discarded along the way and some were selected to become part of this company, now their company.

In that period of time, I listened to hundreds of stories, I made good relationships with many of my candidates, fortunately, I continue to be in contact with them. The human quality that they gave me has been the most gratifying of this year, being able to touch hearts through a call, gain the trust of people on their way to Framework Science, and listening to those voices full of gratitude for the service provided, has and it is what makes me love this profession and want to give my best in each contact made.

I may have had casualties this year, but at the end of 2020, I realized that not everything was bad after all. I have my beautiful healthy family, a great network of old and now new friends, I am surrounded by professionals and better human beings.

With all my heart I hope that all those people who have had a difficult year, have a better year in 2021, we all deserve a break after the storm. Health, prosperity, and happiness are my wishes for each of you.
