Shylock...."Look here, upon this picture, and on this,"

I read Shakespeare as a student and truly enjoyed it as an educator, when I taught 'Julius Caesar' and over the years fell in love with many characters of Shakespeare, so it was only natural for me to go and visit The Globe Theater, I walked the Queens walk from the Thames till the Theater , the first glimpse of the theater is mesmerizing!

The beauty of the theater was not just the history it reflected, but also that there were so many children, students who were with their educators getting to grasp all that knowledge without even realising that they were learning!

My favourite character is Shylock, from -The Merchant of Venice, I have always believed him to be the true protagonist of the play, he reflects the years of suffering the Jews were subjected to , and I can always draw a parallel with the ill- treatment melted out to them with what Hitler also later on went on to subject the Jews to- wearing of symbols to represent that one was a Jew, made to live in a separate part of the city , and stripping them off of their wealth and dignity!

I find his desire of revenge to be fierce and admirable, the long and cruel oppression, years of suffrage has hardened his soul, yet he attempts to take revenge , not just for himself but his entire race.

Standing in the pit of the globe made all those characters come alive!
