Showing Up

Showing Up

Triple Espresso:

It takes more than just showing up.

Woody Allen once stated, "80% of life is just showing up."

While I think Woody is brilliant in many ways, in my opinion he missed the mark on this one.

So many people have been seduced in the last decade that all they have to do is throw something out on the internet, YouTube video, blog, ad on Facebook, etc, and find the dream of a large audience.

Well if you've tried that one for a while, you realize that it's just not true.

Too many people, with too many things are "showing up."

A ton of crap will never turn into a pot of gold.

The average potential consumer is inundated with information and noise every single day.

It all becomes just one big cluster.

I was coaching an Executive Coaching Client who wanted me to help him write a book.

I can do that. I began a series of questions.

One of the many I asked him (after asking him "Why") was, "Who is your market?"

His response was, "Everybody."

Wrong answer.

Who are you speaking to in your business? Who is your target market? How do you stand apart?

It doesn't take that many people listening to you to make a nice living and a HUGE impact. That is, when you're speaking to the RIGHT people.

Once you have the right audience, the focus becomes quality, greatness, genius, mastery.

When you know your market and master your craft, you can own your market and live a meaningful life.

It takes work.

It takes courage.

It takes the backbone to say no to the wrong things so you can leave room for the right things.

It takes focus.

Let me offer a new meme, "80% of a fulfilling life is a focused and masterful life."
