Showing the Australian food Industry "HOW" to Innovate for the Asian Century

On behalf of the Food Innovation Team, we wanted to bring you up to speed on a few things, especially as we head towards the tail end of our Innovation and Collaboration capability programs for 2015.

So here’s a few highlights from the FIC over the last quarter:

  • Completed 10 capability programs/workshops focused on enabling companies to accelerate and de-risk their innovation pipeline for both domestic and Asian markets.
  • Shared best practice innovation tools, techniques and “showed” companies how to innovate for sustainable growth – over 195 companies have gone through these programs in the past 3 months!
  • Partnered with HIAL and Dr. Hazel Mactavish-West on a bespoke program for horticulture members on developing & marketing added-value vegetable products. With over 50 farmers/producers and processors learning about best practice approaches to value adding.
  • Seeing an increased conversion now using the FIC’s Innovation services – the industrial design lab, Asia proxy consumer panel and the Virtual store enabling companies to move quicker to develop products for domestic and export markets !
  • Partnered with RDV (Moira Shire) to bring together a regional focused innovation and collaboration program to link and leverage companies to collaborate further for future export opportunities.
  • Presented at 7 industry engagements from running bespoke workshops in regional areas to major national conferences - this has helped us to build further awareness of the FIC.
  • Master of Food & Packaging Innovation (in partnership with University of Melbourne and Industry Advisory Group) is in full swing with more than 20 students enrolled – companies can still support this great program designed by industry for industry!
  • FIC Intrapreneurship program – designed for Mondelez Australia graduates, just saw over 20 of our graduates complete their intrapreneurship program. Look out for 2016 program available for Industry participants.

The Food Innovation Centre website www.foodinnovationcentre.com.au has been getting great traffic through with companies now registering and finding out more about our capability programs and services.  We recently added information about our consumer and shopper research services (Asian Proxy Consumer Panels & Shopper research with eye tracking.  Do keep checking this, especially the resources page which has our service cards and of course give us a call if you would like our support.

We look forward to hearing from you and more importantly supporting your business to innovate for sustained growth in both domestic and export markets.

Please feel free to share this update with your business and networks.

We look forward to collaborating and co-creating with you.

Certainly a good start - Need to look at the copying issue as well as the blending and re-packaging. Two other significant areas to look at in the Asian market is to be extremely specific in the target and partnering with someone who has logistics / cold chain connectivity / influence
