Showcasing Value: The 7Ps of a Persuasive Pitch

Dear Founders and Investors,

Today, I’m sharing the 7Ps of a Persuasive Pitch—a framework I conceptualized to help entrepreneurs create compelling investor pitches that showcase their business's true potential.

1. Purpose: Start by clearly articulating the mission and vision of your business. Can you define the problem you're solving and why it matters? Your story sets the stage and hooks your audience from the beginning. (For more insights on aligning purpose with your pitch, check out my interview with Tishauna Mullings.) Watch Here

2. People: Introduce your team and the investors you're targeting. Highlight the experience, skills, and capability of your leadership, board, and advisors. Show that your team is equipped to execute the business plan and deliver results.

3. Positioning: Can you identify your unique selling proposition and competitive advantage? Explain what sets you apart in the market and how you’re positioned to win. Highlight your secret sauce—whether it’s innovation, strategic partnerships, or intellectual property.

4. Proof/Performance: Provide concrete evidence of your business’s success. Whether through traction, historical performance, or a proven concept, demonstrate that your business model works and is scalable.

5. Plan: Outline your strategic growth plan, including go-to-market strategies, customer acquisition, and projections. Show how you intend to achieve your goals, with projections grounded in solid assumptions.

6. Proposition: Clearly articulate the return on investment (ROI) and potential exit strategies for investors. Make it clear what they stand to gain and why your business is a valuable opportunity.

7. Protections: Conclude by detailing the safeguards in place to protect investors' interests. Highlight your governance structures, risk management policies, and any agreements that ensure security and transparency.

These 7Ps are designed to guide you in crafting a pitch that not only informs but also persuades. Remember, a great pitch tells a story, showcases value, and reassures investors that their investment is in good hands.

Please let me know if I missed anything.

Until next time, keep building value.

Best,

Love this. I'm honestly thankful for my experience as a marketing director in a Canadian agency. It taught me how to pitch. And when you have to do it for global brands like Michelin, it's on another level. So, now I can use that skill for myself.
