Last week, the Diageo GB team came together in Edinburgh at the annual 2BGB conference. The three day event was a fantastic opportunity to connect and reconnect with colleagues, learn about our business, and gain valuable insight into? our brands.?
Nuno Teles, Diageo’s Managing Director for the UK, opened the conference last Tuesday, emphasising the importance of immersing ourselves in Scotland, where much of our business is based. Learning for Life plays a central role in reaffirming our commitment to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate. The outcome of that very commitment was demonstrated in style by our amazing and talented Learning for Life graduates who helped service the event last week.?
Since launching in Scotland in 2014, more than 2,000 people have graduated from the programme across Scotland and over 5,000 in the UK. On Wednesday evening we were joined by 12 of our Learning for Life graduates who have recently rolled off of our six week bartending and hospitality course, in either Glasgow, Ayrshire and of course our purpose-designed Learning for Life Academy in Johnnie Walker Princes Street Edinburgh. The designated space provides ample room for presentations, tutorials and lessons. It also contains a large, open bar area where people can learn and hone the skills they learn in a venue and environment that sets the highest standards.

It was inspiring to see our graduates in action last week and beneficial for the GB team to see first-hand the fantastic impact the programme is making on the lives of our participants. Over almost 10 years, 82% of programme participants across the UK have then gone on to sustained employment.?
As we head into a momentous 10 years of Learning for Life in Scotland, working alongside our delivery partner Springboard , we will continue to work hard to connect people with prospective employers, providing opportunities for programme participants to fulfill their potential and help to support an inclusive and thriving hospitality sector that works for all.
