"Show me how yo grandpappy walk!"

"Show me how yo grandpappy walk!"

This is a saying from Belize, taught by singer Harrison "Dawgie" King to me in the middle of a concert in 2013!?He called it out encouragingly during a concert, and from the context, it meant, show me what you can do.?

Now, I ask you: show me what you can do. Show me how much you can support our work to bring people together through music in our 20th year. Show me how yo grandpappy walk!

We continue our journey down Memory Lane, arriving? to 2017, when we returned to Belize, and 2018, when we conducted a project in China for the first time. Both years also saw our annual project in Tunisia, as well as work in Mexico, both of which are coming in future “memory lane” visits, so, stay tuned!

The trip to Belize was a meaningful opportunity to cement relationships that began there in 2013, when the National Institute of Culture and History first invited us there. CiH has worked with the National Youth Orchestra (shown in above picture), arranged brukdong music for orchestra, taught young musicians, and performed with local musicians. We made this documentary about culture and identity in Belize. The next year, 2018, saw a unique project in China funded entirely by our partners there.

In 2025, as part of our 20th anniversary, we will return to Belize. Please donate today to help us continue to bring people together through music! And in so doing…show me how yo grandpappy walk!

Yours in cultural understanding,

William Harvey
