On The Shoulders Of Giants

On The Shoulders Of Giants

Do you know who Tony Robbins is? Wait a minute, that's a stupid question... Of course you do!

Well aside from making people walk on hot coals, he has changed more people's lives than any personal development coach in history.

...and I love this quote of his:

If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you'll achieve the same results.

After my massive success, and then my fall from grace, I wanted to be different.

To be better.

So I took Tony's advice, and I looked for role models.

Mentors.

Over the years I learned from the best in this business. We're talking the big names, the $ Million+ Producers. And I got good.

My skill level increased dramatically. I was a far cry away from my 'smile and dial' days where I just pounded the phone.

I added an element of finesse to my search game, and not to toot my own horn, but I learned to sell and recruit circles around most in this business.

But I plateaued, and while I was making an amazing living, I was bored. Maybe even burnt out a bit. I was tired of all the cold calls, and felt like I was still selling a commodity business. Yes I was much better at building relationships and selling higher level search, but I knew my skill level on the phone would only take me so far.

Because let's face it, when your prospects are getting multiple cold-calls daily, it's almost impossible to build a human connection with someone when you're the one cold-calling. Your prospect doesn't have the time to allow 10-15 cold-calling recruiters to try to build a connection when they have to navigate through their busy day.

And quite frankly, I didn't want to do what most recruiters do...build relationships over years after getting my foot in the door on a contingency search.

I wanted to compress the time required to build trust, that elusive element that is 100% required for your clients to allow you to serve them at a higher level, and I wanted to do it fast and at scale.

Enter Digital Marketing...

So I embarked on my second journey of discovery, this time going down the rabbit hole of internet marketing, spending $10's of thousands in trainers and 'gurus,' learning from the most advanced minds in the digital marketing space.

And to be clear, this wasn't training on some clunky marketing funnel that a lot of recruiting trainers try to sell you on.

Because you know as well as I do, marketing funnels are like the 'Training Du Jour' in the recruiting world right now.

Nope, I'm talking about building a connection with my ideal prospects through marketing efforts, branding, positioning, and providing real value to them, so that when I would call, or when they called me, or booked a call, or fell into my funnel, their defenses would be down and that human connection would be allowed to germinate and grow.

So I went deep, and in the last 3 years downloaded as much internet marketing knowledge as I could possibly fit into my brain.

...and they say old dawgs can't learn new tricks!

And it re-ignited the passion I had once lost in this business. I felt like I finally found the missing piece. I found it so much easier to build connections when my prospects already knew me...

And had already received massive value from my content (not that random content most recruiters post, but content that strategically creates informed buyers)

So I didn't need to sell them anything. We could move past that and get down to the business of really serving them they way they needed to be served.

If I'm to be completely honest and vulnarable, I fell in love with the business again.

And here we are now. #FIRST#. You have the benefit my years and years in the executive search space...

And my deep knowledge of internet marketing as it applies to the recruiting industry.

Bottom line, I'm not a recruiting trainer who no longer runs an active practice (so they haven't actually implemented a digital marketing eco-system for recruiters themselves).

Nor am I digital marketer who's never placed a candidate, ever (you can usually tell from their marketing materials that they don't really know the industry very well)

All my branding techniques, automation systems, scaling strategies, all of them...have been battle-tested in the field.

They're still being tested. Right now, while you're reading this.

So if that's the case David, then why are you teaching this to others?

To show other recruiters how to avoid the traps I fell into.

To elevate the industry, and to make recruiting great again.

To serve our clients, and our candidates at a higher-level...

And in doing so, helping purpose-driven recruiters like you change the world for the better.

Hell, maybe to bring some pride back to our business.

Plus, the feeling that I get from helping you guys, from reading the emails and comments and the phone calls about how I helped someone achieve a new milestone, or set a new personal record, or finally have the courage to start an independent practice, or to fall in love with this business again...

It's priceless. I finally feel like I've found my calling.

So imagine, if you will, instead of doing this on your own and HOPEFULLY doing it right, conquering every roadblock as it comes, figuring out every hiccup…

But instead, you implemented my system, and created the kind of brand recognition that most recruiters spend years trying to build.

Where everyone in your niche knows your name...what you stand for...and what you do.

So that when they’re sick of the bodyshop recruiters that are a plague to our industry, or when they have to meet yet another new Account Manager from one of the big-brand corporate firms they have a national agreement with...

...and they're ready to spend money to solve the real pain in their life...

The pain that you made them aware of, that they didn't even know existed yet is so viscerally real...

You’re there, waiting to help them.

Imagine going from the best-kept secret, to the biggest name in your Corner of the Universe.

Copy me. Use my systems.

Hell, make them better. Do more. Be more.

If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants. ~ Sir Isaac Newton

Let me be your stepping stone to greatness...

You got this.
