Should You Work With a Broker or a Bank?

As a mortgage professional, I’m asked all the time, “What’s the difference between getting a home loan from a bank versus a mortgage broker?” In this quick video, I answer that question and tell you why I believe nearly every borrower will get better terms and better service working with an expert broker. Banks have a fixed set of loan programs and often have additional restrictions called overlays. So if you don’t fit into their restrictive box, you’re out of luck. Meanwhile, a broker works with 20 to 30 lenders (and shop terms with 100’s more), so they can shop around for a lender with terms and guidelines that work for you.
