Should You Use A Recruiter?
Answer: Maybe not…
Here is why…
A recruiter only has value for you if…
- You are struggling in your job search
- Don’t have time to focus on your job search
- Don’t know where to begin
If you don’t fall into ANY of those categories then there really isn’t a ton of value to use one.
BUT….
If you fall inside one of those three parameters… Then use a recruiter.
The reason being there SINGULAR purpose is to help in all of those areas.
YOU ARE STRUGGLING IN YOUR JOB SEARCH
This is the area where recruiters probably offer up the most support.
They first must diagnose what your issue is.
Perhaps it's one of the following
- Terrible resume
- Poor interviewing
- Saturated market place
- Overwhelmed HR reps receiving your resume who “can't get to it.”
- Tough economic times
The truth is a recruiter can help with all of those things…
Let’s say it’s a saturated market place due to economic times, and therefore HR is overwhelmed and cannot get to your resume which is less than stellar….
You won’t get a sniff for an interview which you would more than likely underprepared for.
Insert recruiter…
They vamp up your resume, get it directly in front of a hiring manager or HR rep (Whom they have a relationship with) putting your name on the top of the overflowing heap.
When you get that interview – you have a partner who will coach you through and make sure you are prepared….
Now you have a fighting chance.
YOU DON’T HAVE TIME
Well don’t worry…
With a recruiter they will vet jobs for you.
More often than not they can help you fill out an application you send your resume directly in.
They reach out to you for updates, AND the organization in which you are applying…
NO time wasted on your end.
YOU DON’T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN
There isn’t much that needs to be said here…
You are correct if you thought it…
With a recruiter you don’t need to know where to begin because they will coach you through everything.
- Resume
- Job searching
- Applying
- Interviewing
- Pay - negotiation
- Getting started
You see a recruiter is a valuable thing when needed. But, if you are getting interviews and job offers keep on doing your thing!
Cheers
