Should you "mass" email your database?

You are a business owner considering sending ONE EMAIL to your entire database? Before sending a batch email campaign, ASK YOURSELF the following questions to first gain CLARITY on delivering maximum value to the right recipients:

• What is the desired outcome of the email campaign?
• WHO is the ideal recipient of the email?
• What value is being provided in the email?
• Which segment of your database WILL find value in the content of the email?

Pro Tip: It's uncommon for an entire large database to want & find value in the same email content. Think segmentation, think value based information.

• What are the top 3 ways the database be segmented?
• Did the contacts opt-in / subscribe? Did the contact ASK to receive the emails?
• Put your consumer hat on... When did you last receive a mass email and unsubscribed quickly? What made you feel that way?
• Are you sending the batch email just to 'flush out’ people to raise their hand… or are you sending the email to truly provide information desired by the recipient?

PRO TIP... PUT YOUR CONSUMER HAT ON. When was the last time you received a mass email that YOU found valuable, and left you wanting more from the sender? As the consumer & recipient of the email, what made you feel that way?

If there is one takeaway before you press send on a batch email, take a moment to reflect on your desired outcome, who you are seeking to serve, and what value you are delivering.
